AmPsycho 2000 Emails: Prada

Subject: Prada
I have long ago given up worrying about man’s ability to devise new ways in which to spend a disproportionately huge amount of money in order to show his fellow man that he has amassed huge piles of it. Forget cocaine. It’s place in the luxury goods market has been usurped triumphantly by Prada. I applaud the brilliance of those minds behind this phenomenon. Where else can merchandise made primarily of nylon and leather be fought over by patrons wearing Diamonds and Sable? Prada. More than a brand; A mantra. A greeting. “Prada?” Soon to be right up there with Shalom, Ciao, and Aloha.
Virtually yours,

I’d have liked to see Namaste first in that list, but to be fair, holistically-minded yuppies (not to be conflated with Bohemian Bourgeoisie in my mind) probably weren’t as prevalent nine years ago.

Poor Kids & Summer Reading
Posted: July 5th, 2009 | Author: CB | Filed under: science or lack thereof | Tags: class fisticuffs, literature, race matters, science or lack thereof | No Comments »Poor kids get dumber during the summer, trufax.
They don’t have respectable parents to overschedule them in activities or force them to pick up a book (preferably some long-established, WASPy tome), see.
Poor people who have the audacity to become parents apparently do not encourage reading.
And if they ever do, their recommendations are sure to be less edifying than this English-speaking white guy’s.
A shame, because without the requisite hammering and wildly exorbitant summer camp expenditures, children are hopelessly stupid creatures that can never develop a love of literature on their own…
Not that it’s ever been about cultivating love for the arts & humanities, but rather combating ostensible drops in I.Q. points.
Lower test scores: the bane of all classes (but mostly the lower ones).
