Chris Rock and French culture minister Frédéric Mitterrand on child rapist Roman Polanski

Give it up for one of the few celebrities – nay, public figures even – with a modicum of sense floating around.
Because! Speaking of Roman Polanski! One of his most vocal defenders, French culture minister Frédéric Mitterrand is fighting to save whatever remains of his career after revelations of his penchant for raping (but not “RAPE-raping*,” mind you) children who are enslaved in prostitution in Southeast Asia have come to light.
Mitterand on Polanski:
“Just as there is an America which is generous and which we like, so there is an America which is frightening, and that is the America which has just revealed its face.”
[Speaking on the United States' "callous" behavior in their extradition of self-confessed child rapist Polanski]
Mitterand on child sexual slavery:
“I got into the habit of paying for boys… All these rituals of the market for youths, the slave market excited me enormously… the abundance of very attractive and immediately available young boys put me in a state of desire.”
[Excerpted from Mitterand's written autobiography, wherein he recounts lurid scenes in male brothels in Thailand and Indonesia where boys are presented to Western tourists.]
*Thanks to rape apologist Whoopi Goldberg for this super-shiny neologism!
In light of this and the other insufferable celebrity solidarity surrounding Polanski, Tiger Beatdown (who would win the Internet forever for that chosen moniker alone) proposes that we play a fun little game called “Don’t Give Money To The Rapist.”
